CURRENT JOB OPENINGS

ASSISTANT YOUTH ENGAGEMENT DIRECTOR

Full Time Non-Exempt

 

Works directly with the Director to assist in scheduling, supervising and offering youth engagement programs; managing staff, policies and procedures including full compliance with all youth-directed standards for the Walla Walla YMCA and community collaborations. Provides support in supervision of staff. May serve on as the onsite manager of offsite community youth collaborations on behalf of the Y.

 

Essential Functions (partial listing):

 

  • Collaborates with the Director to establish Youth Engagement program goals.
  • Serves as backup to leadership for all core youth programs including Y CREW, Action Zone, Walla Walla Music Organization (WWMO) and Youth and Government (Y&G). Ensures staff in these roles understand their assigned duties and are performing them as expected.
  • Helps supervise and develop staff and program coordinators. Assists with staff evaluations, hiring, onboarding and termination processes. Attends staff job interviews.
  • Coordinates staff scheduling and payroll reporting with HR. Assists Youth Engagement staff and HR with
    time and attendance reporting.

LIFEGUARD

Part-Time Non-Exempt

Morning & Mid-Day Shift

 

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring that no drowning or other adverse events occur for users of the pool, including the warm therapy pools and on-deck showers and equipment. The Lifeguard maintains constant surveillance of swimming pools during all times the pool is being used by YMCA members, guests, and/or staff. The Lifeguard promotes and serves as a role model for safe behavior by consistently following and enforcing facility health, safety and other rules and regulations, and responding to and caring for emergencies in and out of the water.

 

Essential Functions (partial listing):

 

  • Follows and enforces YMCA policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  • Understands and adheres to all Lifeguard duties including frequent patrolling of the pool area and lockers.
  • Recognizes and immediately responds effectively to emergencies both in the pool and Y-wide.
  • Ensures the pool deck is monitored during and after emergencies.

GROUP EXERCISE FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Part-Time Non-Exempt

 

Under the direction of the Wellness Director and the Group Exercise Coordinator, teaches and promotes group fitness classes; monitors areas for safety and cleanliness, and engages members in an enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

 

Essential Functions (partial listing):

 

  • Conducts energizing, fun, and physically appropriate classes in person and via Zoom.
  • Builds positive and professional relationships with members, program participants and other staff members.
  • Instructs participants on safe exercise techniques including, but not limited to, warm-up and cool-down, stretching, cardiovascular exercise, strength training, workout progressions, and proper use of exercise equipment.
  • Clears area of safety hazards, and reports maintenance needs to the Group Exercise Coordinator.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – YOUTH & ADULT SPORTS

Full time, Part-Time or Internship

 

The Assistant Director develops, organizes and implements high quality adult and youth sports programs both at the Y and in collaboration with other community sports programs under the direction of the Director of Sports.

 

Essential Functions (partial listing):

 

  • Helps to develop, direct and supervise program activities to meet YMCA youth and adult sports program objectives.
  • As needed, secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities. Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Schedules, staffs and coordinates all year long youth/adult individual or small group sports programs, including archery, karate, gymnastics and others.
  • Coordinates with the department management to plan, schedule, staff manage summer camps in Walla Walla and supported communities.

Part-Time | 2:15pm – 5:30pm | Mon-Fri

 

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the classroom, and implements program curriculum, providing a safe and structured environment for learning and developing.

 

Essential Functions (partial listing):

 

  • Assists elementary school age students K-5, with school curriculum and distance learning including core subjects of English, math, science, reading, computer skills and study methods.

  • Follows all procedures and standards to maintain a safe, clean, well-organized and structured environment that meets all Health codes and Y Standards.

  • Organizes tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning. Monitors student performance.

  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement, belonging and relationships among youth and within families.

  • Assists Lead Teacher and/or Assistant Learning Center Director with group activities. Follows the job list and implements curriculum provided by the Assistant Learning Center Director.

  • Helps maintain a safe, clean, well-organized and structured environment meeting Health codes and Y Standards.

  • Assists children with daily needs (bathroom, lunch, swim, quiet/nap time, behavior etc.)
