ASSISTANT HEALTH AND WELLNESS DIRECTOR

Full Time Non-Exempt

Position Summary:  The primary role of the Assistant Director is threefold: 1) to instruct individual members in use of the Wellness Center and Upstairs equipment, 2) oversee Wellness Center staff hiring, training and support and 3) help coordinate Wellness Center supplies and equipment. The Assistant Director assists in offering, scheduling, and supervising Y onsite and virtual health and wellness programs, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. May provide Personal Training services for Y members as well.

Essential Functions (partial listing):

1. Assists in providing supervision to Wellness Staff and Personal Trainers, while orienting, training and monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching.
2. Ensures staff adherence to company policies and procedures.
3. Conducts energizing, fun, safe, and scientifically sound educational training sessions.
4. Builds effective relationships with members and other departments as to the benefits of the Y’s
health and wellness programs.

LIFEGUARD

Part-Time Non-Exempt

Position Summary: Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member health, safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.   

Essential Functions (partial listing):

1.    Maintains constant surveillance of the pool area.
2.    Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports in a timely and accurate manner.
3.    Maintains effective relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
4.    Knows, understands, serves as a role model for, and consistently applies all health and safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.

GROUP EXERCISE FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

Part-Time Non-Exempt

Position Summary:  Under the direction of the Wellness Director and the Group Exercise Coordinator, teaches and promotes group fitness classes; monitors areas for safety and cleanliness, and engages members in an enjoyable and positive environment that promotes member wellness in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Essential Functions (partial listing):

1. Conducts energizing, fun, and physically appropriate classes in person and via Zoom.
2. Builds positive and professional relationships with members, program participants and other staff members.
3. Instructs participants on safe exercise techniques including, but not limited to, warm-up and cool-down, stretching, cardiovascular exercise, strength training, workout progressions, and proper use of exercise equipment.
4. Clears area of safety hazards, and reports maintenance needs to the Group Exercise Coordinator.

WELLNESS CENTER FLOOR ATTENDANT - PERSONAL TRAINER

Part-Time Non-Exempt

Position Summary (partial description):

Under the direction of the Wellness Director and the Assistant Wellness Director, supervises all
fitness areas for safety and cleanliness, and assists members in the use and care of wellness
center equipment. Ensures Health and Safety protocols are being followed at all times.

Essential Functions:

1. Serves as the Wellness Center representative during scheduled hours; remains in the Center
and is attentive to all participants to protect their safety and wellbeing.
2. Conducts individual and group member orientations to the Wellness Center; performs Fit
Starts as needed.
3. Educates, reinforces and ensures compliance with facility and equipment use requirements.
4. Instructs Wellness Center participants on safe exercise techniques including, but not limited
to, warm-up and cool-down, stretching, cardiovascular exercise, strength training, workout
progressions, and proper use of Center equipment.

SWIM INSTRUCTOR

Position Summary (partial description):

Teaches swimming techniques, swimming strokes, and water safety rules to all ages with varying swimming abilities. Assisting more experienced swimmers to enhance their swimming abilities. Assessing the progress of each person. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes participant safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.  

Essential Functions:
•    Ensures safety of children in swim lessons program by maintaining surveillance on classes.
•    Communicates efficiently and patiently with students and parents of swim students.
•    Follows established YMCA Aquatic Department/Employee Handbook policies and procedures.
•    Enforces safety rules for all classes.
