Update #3

January 14, 2019

The roof is on! That’s right, the first layer of the roofing system is on and the rest is soon to follow. Windows should be going in this week and then we should see the inside of the buildings begin to take shape. (Photos to come)

We would like to thank everyone for being patient during the construction of the temporary wall in both the Wellness Center and the Front Lobby. Also, a quick reminder of the scheduled power outage this Thursday the 17th. The YMCA will be closed until 1pm on that day.

Our Winter Basketball League will begin this weekend and we would like to remind everyone to please be careful both walking and driving around the YMCA. Thank you for your support and dedication to the Walla Walla YMCA.

Update #2

December 12, 2018

It’s exciting times as our construction continues. The CMU walls are going up and we can begin to see both the Multipurpose Room and the Wellness Center addition taking shape. Once the CMU is in place the structural steel will follow and by the end of December, the buildings will be ready for the roof assembly.

We want to thank all of our members for your continued patience regarding the parking lot and the wellness center disruption. The temporary wall should be coming down by the end of December and the size of our Wellness Center will be back to normal.

Update #1

November 8, 2018

We are 4 weeks into our project and progress is going well. As you can see, the slabs for both additions have been poured. The weather was favorable throughout this process and we all hope that it continues to cooperate as we enter the winter months. Before long you will begin to see the CMU walls being installed and the buildings will begin to take shape!

Our Fall and Winter programs are ramping up and Youth Basketball is in full swing. This means that the building will be in peak use over the next several months. As a reminder, with Daylight Savings time behind us and as the days are getting shorter, please continue to drive safely through the parking lot as well as along Park, Birch, and Palouse Streets. We have added additional lighting in our gravel parking lot but we ask that you still take precaution as both a driver and as a pedestrian.

Beginning December 3rd, a temporary wall will be constructed towards the west end of the Wellness Center. There will be minor displacement for a 3 day period, however the wellness center will remain open. Once the wall is constructed we will continue to operate as normal, yet in a slightly more confined space. The wall will remain in place for an approximate 4-5 weeks and then it will be dismantled and the wellness center will return to its normal size. We appreciate your patience throughout this process.
