Y’s Little Owls Preschool

During the Y’s Little Owls Morning Preschool children who will be turning 5 before August 31st are put into a Pre-Kindergarten group (Pre-K.) They will be able to attend Kindergarten the following August. Children who will not be turning 5 before August 31st are put into a non Pre-K group.
Our Pre-K program is designed to help your child prepare for Kindergarten. We spend time each day on a curriculum based activity. Your child should master a combination of basic skills: social/emotional, fine motor, letter, number and shape recognition, math, and science concepts. There are standards children are required to meet before entering Kindergarten and we are here to help them learn and have fun!
Our non-Pre-K program is designed to teach young children to master basic social and emotional skills: manners, socializing, taking turns, being kind, and sharing. We also work on a letter a week to encourage your child’s vocabulary and help them prepare before entering the Pre-K group next year.
Additional activities offered within the Y’s Little Owls Morning Preschool: two swim lesson sessions, for families to use at their own leisure, rock wall and library visits, field trips, visitors, and holiday recitals.
During the Y’s Little Owls Afternoon Childcare we offer: nap/quiet time, afternoon snack, sensory play, arts and crafts, outside and free play activities. We also visit Kids Korner once a week!
Both morning and afternoon programs teach basic skills such as our Y Core values of: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Caring. We also work on working as a team and building your child’s confidence!
