Wellness Programs


All beginning exercisers should take advantage of this private session with a member of the wellness team. During the meeting, wellness staff will help you set your wellness goals, share a menu of wellness options and design a program that meets your objectives, interests, and lifestyle. All FitStarts will also receive a free InBody test (body composition), if desired.

Weight can be misleading when used as an indicator of health. Your body is a complex structure made of different
components such as water, fat, and muscle. To thoroughly learn about your body and its condition, take the InBody test. In less than 30 seconds, the InBody will reveal your body fat percentage, muscle distribution, and body water balance. Watch the improvements from exercise and diet and do not let your hard work go to waste. Please call about specific steps that should be followed prior to your test.

Medical Adult Scholarships are a way for doctors to encourage preventative health care and provide patients with the skills they need to enhance their own health and recovery. Those who would like to receive a scholarship must bring in a doctor’s referral. The referred individual will be asked to come to an orientation meeting and will receive a 7-visit punch card pass to the YMCA. During this time the referred individual will meet with a qualified wellness staff person who will help create an exercise program that works within their limitations and medical concerns.

Note: To qualify for this program you must show financial need and a willingness to take part in utilizing the YMCA facility to assist you in achieving your health goals. Access to the facility will be monitored and a lack of utilization will result in the termination of the scholarship.

This small, instructor-lead, group class is designed for those who have experienced or are currently in challenging health situations. Heart attack, stroke, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and auto-immune illnesses are all examples of chronic conditions that we will address through exercise. This class includes a light 15 minute warm-up and 45 minutes of a supervised, individually based workout.

Bring you lunch and join us every second Wednesday of the month as we explore various topics in health and wellness. This lecture-based program is designed for you to learn and ask questions from some of the area’s leading experts in the field of health and wellness. These lectures are also available via Facebook Live if you can’t leave your home or work desk.

Do you suffer from low back pain? Do your knees and hips hurt after a workout or after a hard day at work? This is your chance to learn how to move pain free! Everyone from beginner to advanced is invited to learn which exercise protocols they should be performing based on their movement capacity. Our team of personal trainers will ensure that each participant will be able to take home knowledge and confidence in their abilities to move and perform.

The Lose to Win program helps participants achieve their desired weight loss permanently by establishing accountability, planning, and problem solving measures while receiving group support from a coach. This 12-week program is led by a team of specialized weight loss trainers, lifestyle coaches, and nutrition specialists. Your support team combines the latest science with motivation, yielding sustainable weight loss for you! This program is for participants who are currently not at a healthy weight and need assistance achieving weight loss goals. The YMCA Barbell club is for those who are passionate about weight lifting and who want to be around others who want to achieve their fullest potential in strength training. A 20-30 minute discussion about training techniques or a health related topic will take place in the Board Room prior to a 60 minute open gym session in the Wellness Center. WE NEED YOU! The purpose of our Ambassador Program is to provide assistance to the Y staff in making connections with our members. There are a variety of ways and places to volunteer such as: Wellness Center, Group Ex classes, pool, youth sports, and more. The criteria for being an ambassador is to be friendly, positive, consistent in attendance, and have a desire to serve. If you are interested, please fill out a postcard at the Welcome Center, or ask your Group Ex instructor for one, and turn it in to Lori Larson.
